New leaders building a sustainable business

Waterline Tim Strong CEO 2022

Tim Strong

Waterline CEO

Well, it has been about four weeks since I stepped into the Chief Executive Officer role. And while it has been a month into my new role, with all the moving parts, it feels more like months have passed.

I am honoured and proud to be leading such a talented team who knows and understands the challenges our clients face with their operations. Whether that’s mine sites, ports or minerals processing facilities, we’ve been there ourselves.

CERTIFIED, EXPERIENCED, ENGINEERING

Reflecting on my journey at Waterline, what initially enticed me to join Waterline was the opportunity to work with our clients as an extension to their team—whether that was on site or remote. Back in the day when I was on site, I really needed the support of engineers who knew and understood the daily challenges I faced. Keeping my personnel safe, ensuring we were productive 24/7, while making sure we were compliant, and also managing the responsibilities from head office, amongst a long list of other deliverables. There were never enough hours in the day. Time was a luxury that I didn’t have, so spending time trying to explain what needed to be done added more complexity to the process.

Having access to someone who I could entrust to complete the jobs I needed done without getting into the detail—that’s what I needed. So, it’s empowering to now be in a position where we can provide this much needed support to our clients so they can focus on other aspects of their operation. It gives me great comfort to know that we’ve exceeded our clients’ expectations and delivered work that our team are proud to have been a part of. Just like with these proud projects that our team has delivered for our clients.

Our multi-discipline team has spent considerable time on site, so they know the ins and outs of working at site. The benefit for our clients is that this means we can complete works remotely, which delivers greater savings for them as we don’t need to be physically on site. And while the team enjoys being on the ground, because of our experience, we can provide our clients with greater choice, it’s up to them to decide if they need us on site or whether we can support them remotely.

With our dedicated in-house design team and team of RPEQ Engineers, our clients can be confident that we’re able to deliver on their requirements.
