Welcome to an exciting 2026
I hope you had a well-earned break, had some time to step away, recharge, and return feeling energised, ready for what’s ahead. At Waterline, we’re looking forward to working alongside our clients again and delivering the projects and outcomes that matter most in the year ahead.
A new year always brings an opportunity to reset and refocus. Across the resources and energy sectors, expectations around safety, productivity, compliance, and performance continue to rise. Our role remains clear, to partner with our clients and deliver pragmatic engineering solutions that help operations run smarter, safer, and with greater confidence.
Turning innovation into practical advantage
Over the past year, we’ve continued to invest in innovation at Waterline, with a strong focus on how artificial intelligence can meaningfully improve the way we work, for our people and for our clients. For us, innovation is about building curiosity within our teams, challenging traditional ways of working, and applying new tools where they genuinely improve efficiency, quality, and insight.
Late last year, I had the opportunity to present at Austmine events in Western Australia and Brisbane, sharing how Waterline has adopted AI to support more efficient engineering delivery. These tools are helping our teams process information faster, improve data quality, and generate clearer insights, enabling better, more confident operational decision-making.
Importantly, the same thinking underpins how we support our clients. Whether it’s improving access to engineering information, reducing documentation risk, or enabling clearer visibility across assets and operations, our focus is on helping clients work more efficiently and with greater certainty, empowering safer, more resilient operations.
Looking ahead
As we move into the year ahead, we’re excited about what we’ll deliver together. By combining strong engineering fundamentals with innovation, curiosity, and practical application, we’re continuing to strengthen our partnerships and support operations across the full asset life cycle.
Partnering with clients through an owner’s-mindset approach remains central to how we work, helping keep operations running safely, efficiently, and sustainably. We’re driven by the opportunity to contribute to our industry by supporting the delivery of safe and sustainable resources to the world.
A recent example of this is our work with Rio Tinto at Oyu Tolgoi, where we partnered as a long-term drafting delivery partner to support commissioning and operations across one of the world’s most complex mining assets. Over four years, our team delivered approximately 50,000 as-built and updated drawings providing consistent, high-quality documentation at scale while absorbing complexity internally. It’s a project our team is proud to have been part of, and we look forward to continuing this collaboration.
Thank you to our clients, partners, industry colleagues, and our people for the trust you continue to place in Waterline. We look forward to working with you throughout the year ahead.
