As we close out 2025, I’m proud to reflect on what has been a defining year for Waterline. One where we’ve strengthened our partnerships, sharpened our capabilities, and continued to show up for our clients, our people, and our communities.

This year has tested the resilience of the mining and power generation sectors. The ongoing impact of Queensland’s royalties tax has created new financial pressures, and compliance standards have continued to evolve. Yet, through it all, the need to protect people, stay productive, and remain compliant has never been more critical.

At Waterline, we’ve stayed true to our purpose of partnering with Australian Industry to provide safe and sustainable resources to the world. We’re helping mining and power leaders operate smarter, safer, and stronger. By applying an owner’s mindset, we’ve continued to deliver practical engineering solutions that help our clients minimise downtime, meet compliance requirements, and future-proof their operations.

2025 highlights: engineering confidence and compliance

This year, our team has delivered projects that exemplify Waterline’s impact. Projects where smart engineering directly supports safer, more productive operations.

  • Keeping operations productive during storm season
Queensland’s storm season continues to challenge site productivity and safety. Working alongside Power Protection Industries (PPI), we’ve implemented engineered solutions that enable clients to continue production safely through the adopt of lightning projection and risk-based TARPs, enabling clients to maintain production while keeping their people safe. This approach is a perfect example of how Waterline helps clients turn potential disruption into resilience
  • Raising the bar on compliance in hazardous areas
From our HA and I.S. audits at Stanwell’s Tarong Power Station to pre-feasibility and integration design at Stanmore’s South Walker Creek Gas Power Station, our team has supported clients in meeting complex compliance standards. Each project reinforces our commitment to delivering certainty from audit through to sign-off. No shortcuts, no compromises
  • Mechanical compliance: driving safer, stronger systems
With the rollout of Recognised Standard 23 (RS23), our mechanical engineers partnered with BMA to complete comprehensive site gap analyses, develop fluid power registers, and embed new training and documentation systems. Meanwhile, updates to AS/NZS 4024 have guided our work with clients like QNP, where redesigned access and guarding solutions reduced fall risks and downtime

Across every project, the theme is clear. Compliance done right is a competitive advantage.

Showing up for our communities

This year wasn’t just about projects and performance, it was also about people and community. Waterline was proud to be the major sponsor of the 2025 Fittest in the Coal Fields in Moranbah. What made the event so powerful wasn’t just the athleticism on display, but the sense of connection, resilience, and community spirit that filled the day.

Whether we’re on site or in the community, we know that wellbeing and connection are vital to a strong industry. That’s why we continue to invest our time, energy, and resources into initiatives that build healthier, more resilient communities. Because when our communities are strong, our industry is stronger.

Our focus for 2026: future-ready operations, empowered people

As we look to 2026, our focus is clear. We’re building on this year’s momentum to help our clients and our people stay future-ready. Operationally, digitally, and culturally.

Here’s what that looks like:

  • Engineering for resilience: continuing to partner with clients to design systems that anticipate risk, not just react to it, through smarter automation, energy efficiency, and compliance-led engineering
  • Simplifying compliance: expanding our auditing and certification support to make compliance clearer, faster, and more cost-effective across Queensland and beyond
  • Investing in people: strengthening our internal training and development pathways to empower our engineers and project teams to lead the next wave of safer, more efficient operations
  • Deepening community impact: extending our partnerships across regional Queensland, supporting initiatives that promote wellbeing, inclusion, and opportunity in mining communities

At Waterline, we don’t just help our clients meet the standard, we help set it. Afterall, we’re wanting to achieve mutual success. As we move into 2026 that’s exactly what we’ll continue to do. Engineer confidence, enable compliance, and empower communities.

Thank you for your support

To our clients, partners, and team, thank you. Your trust, effort, and collaboration make everything we achieve possible.

2025 has shown what we can accomplish when we bring together expertise, innovation, and commitment. In 2026, we’ll keep pushing forward, smarter, safer, and stronger than ever.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with you in 2026.
