Tim Strong
Chief Executive Officer / director
Tim Strong is a dynamic, results-driven and innovative executive, who is highly experienced across strategy, leadership and operational excellence in the resources industry. As a highly engaging and strategic leader focused on mutual success, Tim led large multi-discipline teams to deliver various business improvements for asset owners before joining Waterline. His efforts resulted in over 40% ongoing improvement in labour utilisation and more than 35% increase in equipment reliability.
Since joining Waterline in 2018, Tim has championed the company’s focused approach to enhancing the client and employee experience, while driving operational excellence. On 27 July 2022, Tim was appointed as Waterline’s Chief Executive Officer, on the strength of his strategic leadership, operational and mining industry experience, as well as for his passion for using data and insights to drive business improvements to deliver enhanced client and employee experiences. Tim is always pursuing opportunities for mutual success while ensuring Waterline delivers on its purpose of Partnering with Australian Industry to provide safe and sustainable resources to the world.
Randall Makin
Founder / director
Randall Makin, a strategic leader and former Chief Executive Officer of RedEye Apps (Acquired FTV:NYSE), returns to Waterline as a Co-Founder to lead new business efforts. With a passion for optimising engineering solutions that deliver client value, Randall is an innovator at heart.
Randall looks forward to reconnecting with the Waterline team and clients while exploring additional markets. His goal is to continue Waterline’s strategy of delivering high-quality advisory, capital, and operational engineering projects for the Resources Industry.
Evelyn Mejias
General Manager of Business Services
As General Manager of Business Services, Eve Mejias ensures her team supports the operation and sustainable growth of Waterline. She collaborates with internal and external partners to deliver efficiencies across analytics and insights, customer experience, human resources, marketing communications, IT services and external partners. Evelyn brings more than 20 years of experience across the logistics, banking and finance, infrastructure, fast-moving consumer goods and professional services sectors. She thrives in fast-paced environments and has delivered various projects that improved business efficiencies and enhanced employee and customer experiences.
Amanda McKenzie
Chief Financial Officer
Amanda leads the Finance function at Waterline as Chief Financial Officer, bringing over 30 years of experience across a diverse range of sectors. Throughout her career, she has held senior leadership roles in both corporate and entrepreneurial environments, demonstrating strategic financial acumen and a results-driven approach. Her hands-on experience in managing and scaling a business adds a unique and practical perspective to her leadership at Waterline.
Tom Barber
General Manager of Engineering
As General Manager of Engineering, Tom Barber leads the engineering team and ensures the efficient delivery of technical engineering services for our clients while building technical capability and capacity within his multi-discipline team. Tom is a Registered Professional Mechanical Engineer (RPEQ Mechanical) passionate about helping mining operations run successfully. Through disciplined asset management, a clear understanding of value drivers and the application of engineering practices, Tom believes all assets can deliver high-performance levels across operations and commodities.
Shane Miles
Manager, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls
With a background as an electrician, Shane has further developed his practical working skills in the industry, via further education which have enabled him to progress through to Electrical Engineering roles in the mining industry. This enables Shane to provide clients with practical and technical support that improve their operations. He is a strategic thinker who is passionate about creating exceptional experiences for clients and employees.
Kylie Davey
Manager, Project Management Office
With more than 20 years of experience in the mining & metals industry, working with major OEMs, Kylie is an experienced Contracts & Projects Manager. From initial tendering stages to final installation and commissioning, Kylie adeptly oversees project lifecycles. Proficient in scheduling, negotiation, leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and commercial and contract management, Kylie ensures seamless project execution.

Mitch O'Dwyer

Mitch is an adaptive, accomplished and driven engineer, with diverse mining project experience across mechanical engineering and business consulting. He has a proven track record of managing complex projects, developing strategic plans, and providing technical support to ensure successful project outcomes that deliver mutual success. Known for his ability to troubleshoot operational issues, facilitate client workshops, and deliver thorough technical documentation, Mitch has significantly contributed to the success of multiple strategic projects.
Justin Pearson

Justin is a Mechanical Engineer with more than 20 years of experience in the mining and heavy industries. Experienced in leading teams, Justin applies critical thinking to solve complex client problems. Justin is a Registered Professional Mechanical Engineer (RPEQ), is a Chartered Professional Engineer in Mechanical and Management (CPEng Mechanical & Management) and leads a team of Mechanical Engineers at Waterline. He also has extensive experience as a Reliability Engineer at a site, regional and head office level.
John Gilley

A Structural Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland, John brings more than 40 years of international experience in design and construction of structural projects in the resources sector, oil and gas, minerals processing, and industrial building space. John oversees complex engineering projects, leveraging advanced tools to deliver exceptional results for our clients.
Connor Quinn
Team Leader, SMP Design
Connor is an Industrial Design Honours graduate with experience in design & manufacturing in the resources and mining industry. He leads Waterline’s Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) Design team. Connor has valuable knowledge in multiple drafting disciplines such as equipment and product design, piping design and structural design using a range of software packages. He also has a keen eye for detail and understands national and international design codes and standards.
Oliver Lee

Oliver is a Chartered Electrical Engineer with more than 10 years of experience in design and engineering support. His experience spans across the mining and oil & gas industries. Oliver is highly regarded for delivering quality service to clients and stakeholders in all aspects including design and engineering, project scoping, budget and schedule management, and contract management. His broad experience enables him to make informed management and engineering decisions to contribute to optimal project outcomes.
Tim Ford

Tim is a trade Qualified Electrician, with more than 15 years of experience of installing, commissioning, maintaining, and repair of electrical systems. His experience is focused on surface & underground power reticulation, Gas Monitoring & Communications systems ensuring safety compliance in hazardous environments. Tim is proficient in problem solving & fault finding and leads a team of Electrical Engineers at Waterline.
Warren Sweeney
Team Leader, Electrical Design
Warren has more than 25 years of experience in Electrical Trade and Project Engineering within the heavy industry. Warren has a strong history of delivering large complex engineering projects, working across industries on some of Australia’s best known resources projects. He is a specialist in onsite project engineering and commissioning, bringing a lifetime of trade knowledge and project experience to our clients’ projects.
Emma Baumann
Project Manager
As Project Manager, Emma is dedicated and driven to deliver quality projects for our clients. With more than seven years of experience in the coal mining industry, leading a diverse range of mining projects, Emma leads a team of Project Coordinators who ensure our projects are delivered efficiently. Working collaboratively as a part of a team, Emma confidently manages multiple tasks, maintaining a high level of professionalism.

Project Manager
Margot is an experienced project management professional with a strong background in delivering high-value projects across mining, defence, aviation, and infrastructure. Margot has delivered several multimillion-dollar projects, leading large teams, and ensures compliance with regulatory and safety standards. She is skilled in stakeholder engagement, cross-functional coordination, and process optimisation to drive successful project outcomes. Margot leads a team of Project Coordinators, ensuring Waterline delivers exceptional results for our clients.
