After more than 15 years working across mining, engineering, and project management in Mackay and the Bowen Basin, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges our industry faces. From CHPP construction and dragline rewires to shutdown planning, electrical upgrades and energy efficiency initiatives, I’ve been fortunate to lead and deliver projects that keep operations running safely and efficiently.
When the opportunity presented itself to join Waterline as Mackay Region Manager, it felt like the ideal next step. Waterline stood out to me for two reasons: their practical, cost-effective engineering solutions, and their owner’s mindset. Every project is treated as if it were their own investment, with a focus on delivering the safest, most reliable, and most productive outcome possible. That combination of technical excellence and strong partnerships is what I’ve always valued most in my career.
Mackay and the Bowen Basin are critical to our industry
Mackay is home for me, and it’s also the hub for some of Australia’s most important mining operations. From here and our Brisbane office, Waterline supports sites including BHP BMA’s Broadmeadow, Peak Downs, Caval Ridge, Goonyella Riverside, Blackwater, and Saraji; Anglo American’s Moranbah North and Aquila mine sites; Stanmore’s South Walker Creek; and many more.
Over the years, I’ve worked on major mine developments, large-scale shutdowns, and efficiency upgrades across these sites. I know the calibre of the people here, and I know how vital it is to have partners you can trust to deliver on time, safely, and within budget. My focus now is to build on Waterline’s reputation in the region and strengthen our support for engineers and site teams who need reliable, pragmatic solutions.
Looking ahead
What excites me most about this role is the chance to combine Waterline’s depth of expertise with local delivery. I’m looking forward to:
- Building partnerships with mining, industrial, and energy clients right here in Mackay and across the Basin
- Supporting shutdowns and projects with smarter planning, execution, and cost management
- Exploring new opportunities in energy efficiency and electrical systems to help clients future-proof their operations
- Growing our local presence by being accessible and responsive to the needs of the community

I’ve always believed that strong projects are built on strong relationships. Joining Waterline gives me the chance to bring my local knowledge and experience together with a team that shares my values.
